Jesca’s Story

“I stand where I am today because UTSS believed in me.”

Those are Jesca’s words. And her story is a powerful reminder of what long-term, faithful support can make possible.

Jesca joined Under The Same Sun’s education program in 2010 when she was just in Grade Two. Over the next 15 years, your support helped carry her through primary school, secondary school, advanced level studies, and all the way to university.

In 2025, Jesca graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations and Diplomacy from the Dr. Salim Ahmed Salim Center for Foreign Relations in Dar es Salaam, earning an honors GPA of 4.1.

“This milestone marks not only my success,” Jesca writes, “but also the success of every person and donor who has stood with UTSS.”

Along the way, we provided far more than tuition. Jesca received safe schooling, mentorship, summer camps, soft skills and employability training, health education, and critical skin and eye care, including sunscreen, protective clothing, sunglasses, and access to eye clinics. This holistic support helped her grow not only as a student, but as a confident young woman prepared for life beyond the classroom.

Today, Jesca is proud to say she is positioned to give back.

“Because of your support, I am now positioned to be a role model for people living with albinism in my community and to contribute meaningfully to the society of Tanzania.”

Her journey is proof of what happens when education, care, and belief come together over time. Thank you for being part of that journey.

Thank you for standing with students like Jesca, and for helping turn possibility into reality.
